**Quick Start***

Pay Rate: $60/hr

Skills:

One (1) year of experience as a GI Technician.
Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician (AT), Patient Care Technician (PCT), Perioperative Associate (POA), Sterile Processing Technician (SPD tech), GI Technician, Medical Assistant (MA), or Certified Nursing Aide (C.N.A.) in an acute care or surgical setting required.
Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
Must demonstrate understanding and knowledge of clinical procedures performed; knowledge of sterile techniques and infection prevention practices; and demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, physicians and all ancillary personnel.
Must have ability to learn GI standards; work independently with minimal supervision; manage conflict appropriately; work as a team; comply with Kern Medical policies, procedures and code of conduct, demonstrate a positive attitude; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; follow through on all work-related commitments, learn quickly.

Education:

High school graduate or G.E.D. required
Certification as an Endoscopy Technician from the GI/Endoscopy SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates preferred.

Job Description:

Disposes of all sharps appropriately.
Sets up, maintains and protects the sterile field
Assists with the preparation, set up, assists provider, and performs cleanup post procedures of minor procedures as assigned.
Ensures only necessary equipment remains in patient areas/hallway/storage room, and procedure rooms.
Participates in pre-procedure Time Out process.
Adheres to appropriate infection prevention practices
